The MES Site-Based Decision Making Council named her to the post effective July 1.
“Stepping into the role of Principal at Mayfield Elementary is so exciting, and feels like I’m coming full circle, returning to where I began as a teacher 20 years ago,” said Trice.
With a decade in administration in Mayfield Schools, Trice comes loaded with experience. She served as assistant principal of MES from 2015 - 2023. In 2023, she moved to Mayfield Middle School as assistant principal. At both locations, she helped lead curriculum development and implementation and was a certified evaluator for the Professional Growth and Effectiveness System, among her many other duties and responsibilities.
Trice holds a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master of Arts in Special Education, a Master of Arts in Education Administration, and 6+ hours in Leadership. She has been nominated three times for the Distinguished Educator of the Year in the West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) Regional Educators Awards.
She says leaving Mayfield Middle School after two years is bittersweet, “The growth I experienced, challenges I overcame, and the relationships I’ve built there will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
In announcing the selection, Mayfield Independent Superintendent Billy Edwards stated, “I have firm confidence that she will do a wonderful job and MES will continue on a path of excellence."
Trice will succeed Heather Dublin who is moving to the Mayfield Board of Education office to serve as the school district’s Supervisor of Instruction. Trice concluded, “As the principal at Mayfield Elementary, my goal is to foster a culture so positive and inspiring that both staff and students wake up each day eager to walk through the doors. I want to create an environment where every individual feels valued, motivated, and excited to contribute to a shared vision of growth and success.
